Democratic Congress has no spending plan
Thursday, July 1, 2010 02:56 AM
The Democratic Congress has confirmed that it will operate the federal government without a budget. Its goal is to avoid a public vote and public attention to the $1.56 trillion deficit that is burying our kids under a mountain of debt.
Every family struggling to pay for the essentials knows that ignoring a money problem only makes it worse. It is legislative malpractice to borrow 43 cents of every dollar spent, adding this debt burden to future generations who will confront unknown demands, without even debating the wisdom of following this plan.
U.S. Rep. Mary Jo Kilroy, D-Columbus, is blindly following her party instead of looking out for her constituents.
In our family lives and communities, all priorities and decisions flow naturally from agreement on a budget; the same should hold true for Congress.
Because Congress refuses to provide a budget and communicate our national spending plan, it has created uncertain conditions for those who would start a business or expand an existing company. This failure in Washington is killing jobs and hurting families in central Ohio.
