Franklin County FOP Endorse Stivers for Congress
Law Enforcement Organization Joins Growing List of Support from Local Ohioans
COLUMBUS - Today the Fraternal Order of Police, Capital City Lodge #9 representing more than 4,000 officers from 29 Franklin County law enforcement agencies, announced their endorsement of Steve Stivers in the 15th district race for Congress.
"It is a great privilege and honor to align ourselves with candidates who not only protect the interests of law enforcement officers, but also the safety of the citizens of Franklin County - that's why we have endorsed Steve Stivers for Congress in the 15th Congressional District," said FOP Capital City Lodge President Jim Gilbert. "We believe it's important to have representatives who understand law enforcement and will be a strong voice in Washington, something that is currently lacking."
"We are proud to support Steve Stivers because we believe he will always listen and have the best interests of law enforcement and the safety of Central Ohio's citizens," Gilbert added.
"Our men and women in law enforcement are true heroes and I'm honored and humbled by their support - I'll work hard to make them proud," said Stivers in a statement.
A strong supporter of local law enforcement, Stivers served on the Criminal Justice Committee while in the Ohio Senate, helped to strengthen Ohio's sex offender laws, supported legislation to strengthen penalties on some of Ohio's worst offenders and worked to protect local government funds from drastic cuts. He has a proven commitment to Ohio's first responders and will continue that commitment in Congress.
"First responders are on the front lines each and every day, keeping our families safe," said John Damschroder, spokesman for Stivers for Congress. "But too often, because of reckless spending in government, their jobs and the safety of our communities are the first to be threatened. Steve Stivers understands that, and will work to protect jobs."
The FOP joins the National Federation of Independent Business, The U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the National Rifle Association, the Ohio State Medical Association, Ohio Right to Life, Vets for Freedom, Ohio Vets United and the Ohio Restaurant Association, and thousands of families, farmers and workers throughout Franklin, Union and Madison Counties in endorsing and supporting Steve Stivers for Congress.
