Stivers Receives Fairfield County Republican Endorsement
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Steve Stivers (R – Columbus), who is running for re-election in Ohio's 15th Congressional District, this week received the endorsement of the Fairfield County Republican Executive Committee. Stivers is unapposed in the Republican primary.
“I was honored to receive the endorsement from the Fairfield County Republican Party this week," Stivers said. "I am looking forward to spending a lot of time in Fairfield County and getting to know the people and the issues that are important to them."
Stivers currently represents Franklin, Madison and Union counties in Congress, but due to redistricting, his new district includes the northern portion of Fairfield County.
Steve was born and raised in a small town in Southern Ohio and moved to Central Ohio to attend the Ohio State University. Stivers has worked in the private sector for the Ohio Company and Bank One and prior to serving in Congress he was a State Senator from January 2003 until December 2008.
Stivers has also served over 26 years in the Ohio Army National Guard, where he holds the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and is proud to have served our nation oversees for nearly a year as a Battalion Commander in a combat zone during Operation Iraqi Freedom in Kuwait, Iraq, Qatar and Djibouti. While deployed, Lieutenant Colonel Stivers led 400 soldiers and contractors and is proud that each and every individual returned safely home following their mission. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his accomplishments and leadership during the deployment.
Stivers and his wife Karen reside in Columbus, where they are raising their daughter Sarah.
